I had a case of medicine head when I posted last night ... and forgot some things that I wanted to mention. If I don't document it here it will be forever lost ... so feel free to skip :)

shoes ... our little lady loves to play in the basket of shoes by the front door. She pulls them out, tries them on and then leaves them strewn across the floor for me to trip over.

laundry ... loves to pull it out of the (clean) basket and tries to put it on.  She puts (whatever it is) it on her head and walks around giggling to herself and waiting for a reaction. She always gets a laugh from me.

outdoors ... she loves to go for walks.  She likes to touch the bushes and trees, smell flowers, etc.  I cannot tell you how happy I am that spring is here and we can get outside more.

tissues ... girlfriend LOVES to get a hold of the box of tissues. She will actually blow her nose into the tissue by herself, however when I wipe her nose she totally fights me and cries. I praise her for having a clean nose but she wants nothing to do with having her nose wiped. Many times when she sees me coming at her with a tissue she runs the other way.

crackers in her toes ... I made the mistake (one time!) of putting some crackers in between her toes (it was a long car ride). She got a good laugh and now tries to do it herself. Yesterday I found yogurt all over her toes ... hmmm, I think we'll keep her socks on from now on.

daDA ... she loves Brian so much. She gets the biggest grin on her face when she sees him and when he leaves, oh, watch out. This morning he left to take Kaneu to school and as we were waving goodbye from the front door Ruby was crying, wagging her finger and saying (in her French accent) "no no no". Pitiful Pearl is what I call her.

I'm sure there are gazillion more things and I could go on and on but that'll have to do for now. Baby girl is taking a nap and I think I'm gonna do the same.

16 months

IMG_6833

Ruby is 16 months! Baby girl is growing up fast.

Loves
She has become super affectionate. Loves to give hugs and kisses. She loves books, one in particular that has buttons on the side. It's a baby einstein book and she always picks it out. It also has some lift-the-flaps that make her giggle as though she were seeing what was underneath for the very first time.  Her new favorite thing to say is "no no no".  She sounds like she has a French accent and she wags her finger. I know I shouldn't encourage her but it's so darn cute, I can't help but chuckle.

She continues to climb. She can now get into her own booster seat at the table. Scary. She doesn't seem to fear anything, which scares the crap out of me.  She would walk right off of a ledge without even looking down. We really have to keep an eye out with this one. She is a determined and head strong girl. We've been told a few times that we are going to have our hands full with her - we already do!!  She is also very physically strong. And a tough cookie. She bumps her head and falls all the time and rarely cries. She is on the verge of throwing temper tantrums and I really believe that she's going to make us realize that Kaneu's tantrums were a walk in the park. She *loves* to eat and loves to snack. If anyone is eating anything at anytime you'd better be prepared to share. Her newest favorite treat: smoothies. She freaks over them.

Language
She is picking up new words and signs everyday. In Florida we taught her the sing for fish, well last week at the aquarium she saw fish and remembered the sign. Little miss smarty pants.
words:
bird
boo boo
bye bye
hello
no
nak (snack)
mama
dada (she says daDA!!)
ugh oh
boon (balloon)
bub (bubble)
hot
baba (bath)

signs:
eat
water
milk
raisins
banana
sleep
bath
cheese
cracker
monkey
dog
poop
hot
fish

animal sounds:
monkey
dog
pig

Unfortunately she is sick again. Back to the doc today who confirmed and put her back on antibiotics. Poor baby - and poor me. She's shared her germs and now I'm feeling a sinus infection coming on. boo.

yes I did

I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but it was fun. The crowd was great and we had fans cheering us on. We finished in 62min, not bad for not training, eh?  My legs are sore today, my knee aches and my poor foot, well it hurts too.  BUT it did not rain - yay!!  Think I'm finally gonna take my doctors advice and do some physical therapy.

So that was yesterday ... Today was a beautiful sunshiney day. We spent the day (me hobbling) at the park.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Not too much to say. The week has gone by fast and I can't believe tomorrow is Friday! Brian comes home - yay!!  Grammy Sue spent the week with us and we have loved having her here. She made brownies tonight and we ate half the pan.  Yum. Ugh.

Btw, I have a confession: I have voted for the last three weeks. If you watch Idol then you know what I mean.  I've never voted before this season and I'm not exactly sure what has gotten into me. Perhaps it's because I'm an AT*T customer and it's free to vote. Whateva ... I'm hooked!

Any fun plans for the weekend?  I'm *supposedly* running a 10k this weekend. It's gonna rain on Saturday and I don't want to run that bad.  Plus my foot hurts. It may really be hurting on Sat. If ya know what I mean ;)

jiggedy jig

We are home again.  Home again. I am so happy to be out of the car. The kids did really great with all of the driving. I think we were all at our wits end yesterday coming home from PA. Thankfully we won't be taking any road trips for a while. It was really nice to see my family and I'm hoping to see them again soon under different circumstances. My mom is one of 5 and so I have many cousins, most of whom live in the same town so it's really easy to see them all when we go up there.  We all have kids now and the little cousins LOVE each other. Ruby is now the youngest and all of the girls want to hold her or feed her, comb her hair, etc. It's so sweet and I'm pretty sure she loves the attention.  They like to dote on Kaneu too, and of course he eats it up as well.

I'm single mama this week :(  and I am so tired already. The laundry is piled sky high. It will have to wait. I hope I can get a good night's rest. I have been *trying* to remember to take my supplements (calcium and iron) in addition to the glucosamine for my foot, but geez I always forget!!  Plus the cortisone shot I had a few weeks ago is wearing off and my foot is really bothering me. Could I feel any older? Ugh.  Yes, I suppose I could but then that would just be completely depressing.

Kaneu's new favorite word is "awesome". Today at lunch he stated that his (tomato parm) soup was "awesome!" and then at the park he announced that the "Nature Center was awesome!".  Oh I love that boy.  He is really sad though with Brian being gone. During our prayers tonight he got really upset when I was praying for Brian. He is such a tender little guy and oh it just rips at my heartstrings.  I won't be surprised if Ruby, Kaneu and I are sleeping together by the end of the week!

Ok, taking my old butt to bed!

row row row

That is what Ruby has been singing all.day.long. She LOVES row row row your boat.

We leave tomorrow morning :(
It has been the perfect vacation in every way. We will be back. For now we are heading north. My Aunt Tina passed away yesterday. She has been battling lung cancer for three years. I am thankful she is no longer suffering but I am heartbroken for our family. Last year we lost another of my mom's sisters, also to lung cancer. The year before that our grandmother. Cancer is a scary thing. If you smoke, please quit.  I don't think it's really hit me just yet. In a few days we will be in PA with the rest of my mom's family and I am sure then it will all hit like a ton of bricks.

On a lighter note, have I told you how much I love it here??  The kids love it too. So much space to run around, fresh air, great food. It's peaceful and I love not having an agenda or anything to do.  It's been so relaxing and I just love that.

Yesterday
We went back to the Guana River State Park for a little run.  I fell within the first half mile of our 5 mile run. I tripped over a tree root. My knee is scraped but I'm fine. It was traumatic though because the entire rest of the run I was focused on the ground while I heard lots of rustling in the bushes. It was hard to focus. It was just plain hard. The path is sandy and if you've ever run in sand well then you know how that goes. Poor Brian was maneuvering the double jogger over the roots, branches, sand and narrow trails. It was tough work! We saw countless armadillos. Oh my goodness, they're so cute!! I couldn't get a shot of their little face, but trust me when I say they're adorable!!
